"look for the Raiders to go 4-6 and have a lot of payback handed to them this season."

I think lots of folks even the Raider fans will be suprised whats coming this season. Burtons team is going to be better than last year.

The lost 1 player from their Defense which In region C / D they held every team they played to no more than 14 points.

Most people are thinking oh no Martinez Miles is gone its over ... If thats not what you are thinking, then who else did they lose from last years team that isn't going to easily be replaced? Martinez leaves HUGE shoes to fill, but thats been Burtons Strong Point the last 10 years or so.. When Jordan Thacker left his shoes was filled, Lorenzo Miles... Filled, Jacob Coleman ... Filled... Burton has a great run of athletes still coming, they are going to be better this year (IMO)

Last years team is probably the worst team Burton had in the last 6 or 7 years.

    Don't count out the Raiders.

Burtons Defense is going to be a year older the only starter they lose from D is T. Which Riley Maggard is capable of getting the job done if he gets in the weight room and gets his head on straight!

Burton had 6 Shutouts last season and 10 of those 11 anaimals are going to be back... so I woudln't expect less this year.

    GO RAIDERS!

As far as the other teams, Hell I don't know anything about JJK or PV or Clintwood Their fans KNOW what they are capable of and should expect the kids to play to their maximum potiental which Is what I am doing.

Coaching has a lot to do with Success (Look at JJK) Jimbo Adams will have his team ready.

Somone mentioned a slow decline since 2007... Burton Played for a State Championship last season. I think 20 other teams in the regon would love to have a down year like that.

Keep this thing on task or I'll close it and we'll go on. If you want to discuss consolidation, move it to the Non Sports board.
OK -I'm in football withdrawal enough so I'm watching the games replayed on the NFL network. Tried a spring game or two, they just don't have the same effect as fall. Wish that this was Labor Day, as far as sports. Not to wish the summer away, but I enjoy seeing the kids play. And it looks as if I'm going to be working days during the season, makes it much more fun than knowing you have to pull a shift underground, after the games.
We'll keep the lights on for you.

I agree Burton will be tough again this season but without Miles there O will take a BIG hit they MUST get there passing game going again this season if they want to continue rolling

It won't be one of those 10-0 seasons but it won't be .500 or below either. I could see it coming somewhere in between, say 8-2 or 7-3 for good measure. It is WAY to early to even be making predictions but we should be fine. We got an experienced line, good young QB, and Malik Miles. So I wouldn't put us at the bottom of the district or anything.

I remember a few years ago after the Shelby Valley scrimmage people on here were saying we would be lucky to go 3-7 and we actually went 9-1, can't remember if that was when Stewart left or not can't remember to much from that far back, ha ha. So I wouldn't go jumping off High Knob just yet Burton fans.
fingers crossed that you are once again right in your predictions.

I hope so too, I really don't like crow.....Of course an injury or two can always change things like it always has for a small school like Burton. I look forward to catching some 7 on 7 this summer.

Anyone in the area started 7 on 7 yet? I know Battle went to Richmond a couple weeks back to a 7 on 7 tourny.

Who else are we going to beat? It's more than likely the last Appalachia/Powell Valley game ever, might as well win the last one like we have the last 13.

Burton had one scheduled this week but it got canceled. They have one next Tuesday weather permitting.
